Penguin Marionette Make and TakeKurt Hunter In this workshop, each participant will be assisted in building theirown three string penguin marionette using simple materials. They willcustomize their marionettes and learn how to manipulate them. Studying with Lotte ReinigerNancy Henk Nancy shares memories of studying with Lotte Reiniger, learning hermethod of stop-motion animation using silhouettes. Student films madeat this workshop and selections from “The Adventures of Prince Achmed”will be shown. Pantin-French Jumping JacksPeggy Melchior Take our students to a time of simpler amusements. Choose from one ofsix designs to make. Silk Painting & PuppetryHeidi Pearson-Shackleford Join Heidi Pearson-Shackleford as she introduces you to the medium ofsilk painting. This workshop will show samples of hand painted silk,discuss the pros/cons of using silk in your puppet productions anddemonstrate the method. Puppet Skits for Schools & LibrariesJoann Schroeder Participants learn how to use puppets to present children's books,stories and songs. Performances include Brown Bear, Little Red Hen, andHenny Penny & much more with children involved in the presentation. Sculpting a Realistic HeadJim Rose You will have the opportunity to use some of the very plasticene usedby Margo Rose. I will coach and show diagrams to aid in achieving abasic, realistic head. Marionette Mistakes (What Not to Do)Kurt Hunter In this workshop, the most common mistakes made by first timemarionette builders will be explained. Various approaches to remedyingthe mistakes will be explained and demonstrated.
